Trouble with base stations???????

There is a guy who runs a base in the next city over. He has from what I hear a sweet set up. Four stage amp, all kinds of stuff. Any-hoo. When you pass through "HIS" city. He will tell you that your radio sounds bad. Echo is off, you know. Whatever. He really tries to get ya riled up. He does a good job with some of the drivers that don't know of him. He is just out there for the most part to cause trouble. Once in a while he will give some directions, bit then he is right back to it. The other day I was rollen through the city, talken to some one. This guy just broke through and told me my radio sounded like XXXX. Any-hoo, I know it doesn't. Then about 8-10 drivers told me not to worry, that it sounded great. Shoot, I know that.

My question is, is this a common thing? Are there people out there that have toooo much time on their hands that they have to pass of bad information. I dint think this guy has a job. I always hear him talking to hear himself talk.

same here we have about 10 bases in town and 3 of then are jerks and the others are pretty cool . all like to hang out on 19 just to annoy us "no good low life truckers". these people are all over in SW lower Michigan. it gets old real quick that's for sure.

It seems like no matter who you talk to, they have a bad apple in the bunch to tell you about. We have a few here as well. At least we know where they are and can put them in their place fairly quickly.

I am actually a very polite radio user. But, when somebody is doing something stupid on the radio. It is fun to find another big radio, and hold a conversation over the stupidity.
It's really fun when the idiot's let up and find a conversation underway.

Many people are happy to jump in and tell the idiot, "they were talking right on top of you"!

There are some real annoying radio operators in Washington DC. Nobody talks to them so I don't even understand why they have a radio. They just make lots of noise. They think they are cool, but they have no friends (or very few).

Yeah, theres always someone with no life that wants to make things difficult for everyone else. On the other hand, if someone is overdriving their equipment, overmodulating, and sounding like garbage, i tell them so. I would hope someone would do the same for me.

I'm in Northern VA too. A couple of days ago the Fredericksburg boy were waiting in a truckstop for "Hateman". He basically is in some trouble if they find him. He goes way beyond what you describe as he threatens people, and verbally assults them, and it's pretty sad the way he talks to female truck drivers. I believe some people have recorded the daily conversations for evidence if he ever did run someone off the road. They know he drives a trash roll off, his POV, and where he works. Someone should record him and give a tape to FOX5 News and the FCC because anyone can be fired or jailed for those types of threats and comments. There is nothing that SOURS a CB Radio experience more, than turning on your radio and hearing someone like him, and having your wife or kids hear the same. He does it all looking for attention.

I've learned not to let those kind of people bother me. I just talk over them...... they're not really worth wasting much time and effort on. They usually arent man enough to step out from behind the mike, anyway. I've given a couple of them the chance to do and they are too chicken-stuff.

Most of them seem to run junk........ just stomp 'em in the mud and don't acknowledge their existance.

Had One base user in my Area also, Modded a old small handheld and hid it in a nearby location, he was so mad and ran so much overdriving power he got busted......

Fortunatly he was probably like the ones you guys experience and is a very angry type of person.....

No, this dude doesnt run junk. He has the top o the line stuff. He is in Sacramento Ca. I have heard him as far if not farther than Sanfrancisco, San Jose. He really gets out. But that is the problem. He has the foulest mouth. Last week I had my 5 yo son in the car, this guy just starts yelling all kinds of foul mouth stuff. And he is the same with lady truckers, that is when he gets BAD. I had asked him to tone it down b-cus of my son. Im sure you can figure out what he told me to do with myself. Any -hoo, its not long b4 he gets busted. He has no friends, and cant seem to be polite. I just keep thinking of that movie "JOY RIDE". Some driver is gonna find him and WHOOP on him. Then we can have good old CHNL 17 back, peace and quiet.

Wanna drive this guy nuts? Even if you cant hear each other over the jerk, just pretend you do, without even acknowledging him. Just make light conversation, so that you can make like you are talking over him, and keep it up while he tries to jam you. Make this the policy on the channel.

Sooner or later, the low life will go try to find people he gets a rise out of.

I know it's a real shame that you would have to do this, and personally, if he swore in front of a child of mine I'd be looking to give him an **Censored** whoopin he'd never recover from, but in the end, it just gets you in trouble and makes you look like the bad guy.

Good luck with the jerk on 17, show him that you all arent going to let him run you off, just keep talking even if he is really interefering with you guys. Don't give him the satisfaction.

Yeah B-chip. He is the one I speak of. This guy is one of a kind. One minute he is as cool as a fan. The next, well ya know. He cant seem to say one nice thing to anyone.
