Newbie with Galaxy 959B

I'm a newbie and have a Galaxy 959. It has a lot of knobs on it and I'm not sure which ones are important and where to set them. I get the volume and squelch. I'm an expert at the dimmer, LOL. Understand channels also. Beyond that, not sure. Appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

The best way to understand the radio is to read the manual, if you don't have one here is a copy;
