I did a comparison test for Radio Shack a few years ago, on their meter, which is made by Microna. (the test results were listed on Radio Shacks Web site, where that meter is listed)

What we found out was, it was as accurate as most meters, if not better than some, 3-times the price! Now, it is a little on the generous side when it comes to swing watt's over 1000w's. But other than that, for $35 it's a very good meter.

Another meter, one that we did not test with the Radio Shack meter at that time. Is the mobile meter made by Palstar.

The PALSTAR PM2000AM is the meter I'm now running in my Suburban, and this thing is simply "AW-SOME". Lites-up for night time viewing, extremely accurate, (but if your use to seeing numbers from the RS meter, this may make you feel bad!)

Very nice meter. It's a cross-needle meter, so you can monitor your power, as well as swr and reflect, all at the same time!

What are your voltages coming off your battery?

The Radio Shack one works well like jessejamesdallas said. For the price, you can't beat it.

Yes it does multi purpose and seems to be real accurate with swr atleast and close enough with power.
