Galaxy DX 959 or 959B
Hello,
I’m thinking of getting a Galaxy DX 959 for my vehicle. What are everyone’s thoughts on the blue lights starlight vs green lights? Any input would greatly appreciated.

I have a DX959 that i'm real happy with. Although blue is my favorite color. The blue might be easier to see in low light. Maybe some day i'll switch over to blue lights. But have enough projects going on now.

I was never much interested in the backlight faceplates but I'll say if I would get one the blue would also be my choice. The red display I don't believe is being produced anymore.

Blue is better in lower lights, but super bright in dark areas.

I have a DX94HP with the blue lights and you can barely see the starlite display background lighting for the brightness of the blue channel and freq counter lights at night with them dimmed all they can be and when shut off the starlite goes out as well. I have a DX93T with red channel and freq counter and green starlite background and I love it. The green letters / words are very clear and vivid no matter the dimness setting of the red. Green and red light do not typically affect vision but blue does . Amber also has less response by pupils as well.

One of the best radios I ever had, was also one of the worst radios I ever had...The Stryker 440...It had blue lights, and even on dim, at night I had to cover the radio up with a baseball cap I kept in the truck, just for that...It was like having a TV set sitting in front of me while driving...I git great feedback from guys telling me how well they liked my radio, but even with all the great reports I got, I ended up getting rid of it after about 6 months just because it was too bright for night-time driving...
The more things lit up on the face of the radio in blue, the more it's going to be a distraction after dark..

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Our pathfinder uses amber dashlights much easier on the eyes, I believe I read somewhere else that the military uses it for that reason.

Thanks for all the replies, I went with the green last week. I remembered having a blue light alarm clock years ago and I had to get bird of it because it was too bright.
