Cobra 29 LTD chrome

Post by smoke blower »

I have done serval cobra 29 mosfet mods and always came out with 35 to 40 watts. I just did this mod to a cobra 29 LTD chrome and can only get like 20 watts out of it. Had anyone had this issue if so what was found that caused it.

Probably a cheap 520 remarked as a 13N10, it happens all the time.

did you ever try another Mosfet in the radio? as posted some of the mosfets are not as good as others. i got a batch a few years ago that were the same way. put one in a Galaxy 959 and could not get the new batch of the mosfets to swing over 20. even did the dual final conversion and it still would not swing over 20 watts with 2 mosfets. got a couple of the older ones and the radio would then swing to about 40 watts.
might be a good thought about the batch of mosfets you got.

the ones I had would not go over 20 watts even with 2 of them installed. the radio would hit 20 watts very fast . a lot faster than normal so that was why I thought about getting new ones when that happened to me.
