Cobra 2000 gtl receive
Ok all you 2000 fanatics! I've got one that is in overall great condition, tx am, ssb is aligned and spot on. rx ssb is spot on. rx on am only is weak, by weak I mean it receives strong signals just fine but no weak signal receive and barely any white noise. I've checked the normal trouble spots d-12 thru d-16, lifted d-68 no change, tr #? 1674l test good everything is switching between rx tx, voltages are good on receive chain. got me stumped. Looking for any input.

First, how is the antenna, coax, etc. Do a receive alignment, it might be the circuitry needs a little tweak from age and sitting. Last thing is caps, the receive always wakes up after going through the caps.

Re: Cobra 2000 gtl receive
thanks for the reply Gregg. yes it was tr14 tested ok but I thought the hfe was a little low so I replaced it. I've aligned the rx, great rx on both ssb's. ran voltages on rx chain looks good tested transistors and fets, 1 fet was suspect so I replaced it. I was thinking weak caps also, don't know if the owner wants to restore it or just get it working i'll have to ask. there are 56 electro caps in it including the freq counter( whole nother animal) I hate double sided boards lol. I'm going to recommend the caps update for now unless i get some more info on it.
thanks,
ira
