Barry & Super Nova :/

FIRST POST :D :D

I've just attached my President Barry to a brand new mag-mount kit from **Non Sponsor** - a pre-SWR'ed Super Nova **Non Sponsor Link** which that came today. I placed it smack in the centre of my 4x4 roof?

Sorry to be a pest, but I cannot get a radio check from anyone on any channels. I just squelch? I've managed to switch the CB over to FM UK mode as it comes pre-programmed in EU mode. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I did not :(

Nieve, I know. I just thought 'pre swr' meant 'pre-swr'!

Well i'm noticing the band with on that particular antenna 26-30 Mhz and you need to know where the center of the band or bands if that makes any sense. If you are using 27 mhz you need to be sure the SWR is set for that particular band in order to get the most out of your receive and transmit. I would do that first then find someone with a radio and check your transmit to verify your transmitting.

Most antenna manufacturer's say "Pre-Tuned" but they really have no idea the application so the SWR might be as high as 3:1. Always best to adjust the SWR after installation.

Fair enough.

And sorry for posting the Amazon link.

I’ve spent ages up a hill tuning with an swr meter. I’ve got it down to 1.5ish after many tries. But now I cannot find anyone on air to radio check off scanned AM FM and FM UK.

I guess the only way to check my radio is buy another and get someone to help !!!

PS. The antenna is good quality. Are there any other radios (side band etc) that I could plug in to try and get a ‘copy!’?

Thanks
