Hey..
And pray tell...What is the ARRL going to do about it??
Having my Extra license already..I'm glad I did it before this stuff happens.
This will most likely hinder guys that want a license but can't or won't afford it.
Now we'll probably just have a lot of non-licensed operators on the air.

I haven't heard or seen anything from the ARRL or W5YI, they are 2 big amateur radio organizations, if you know others please list them.
If you want to write your Representative and Senator, I don't believe the FCC came up on this on their own since they originally initiated a "no fee policy" years ago. Here are the links below,

I think the FCC would just as soon see HAM radio go away. They are entrenched in the position that Amateur radio is obsolete and just a regulatory pain. The HAM community does nothing to improve that perspective. The rush to high tech radio has simply underscored the belief that basic radio technology is a one hundred year old, long dead horse. It will require a massive technology failure before basic radio and essential skills are valued again. By that time, it may be too late.

No big deal, I'll blast them off of the air with 20kW
..........KIDDING! lol.
Seriously though, it would be a bummer to jack up the cost so high. Just finished getting all of the exams out of the way just in time it seems (got my extra class last week). :D

Thanks for the heads up. We are already charging $15 feels at the exam session. It would just be another $35

From what I read it would be $50 per each upgrade, so it would be $150 to extra ticket and the renewal would be $50.
Most of the clubs doing the exams now charge $15 for the first (Technician) test and the upgrades were free, the $15 was to offset the charge of stationary supplies, etc.
