This the radio I just got Yaesu FT920 I opened it up to look things over and found this. If the previous owner dont fess up to what was done its going back anyone else have any clue?



Notice there's also a resister added a little bit lower on the board

Your talking about these. Ive been searching haven't been able to find anything on a mod like that.

My guess it's a mod for optimizing the AM modulation eliminating it from going through the DSP unit which is the silver box you moved to see the mod. I saw a mod on YouTube,

His mod isn't as clean as the one done in your radio and since you don't have the FM board in yours, the tone generator he talked about isn't needed.
