Transmission during a rainstorm opinions?

Do you think you reach farther or your transmission distance is lessened during a real bad rain storm? Obviously there are countless other factors, but in general, I'm curious to everyones opinions and experiences?

In my experience I never had any more or less distant contact during a storm. I have however had good groundwave contacts during foggy conditions.

yes good results during fog but rain does seem to have a negative effect on my mobile possibly from antenna grounding
