Equipment installed!

Hello everyone.
First off, I want to thank JJD and Gunner357 for tips on installing my antenna.
After patiently waiting for an opportunity, I finally had time to install the radio and antenna. My uncle is going to give me a Cobra 148 and Cobra 29, but we haven't been able to meet up with covid restrictions, illnesses, and working six days a week. So I purchased an Uniden PC88 Elite. I have it hooked up to a Predator antenna mounted on a Breedlove mount, stud, and fold over disconnect.
The antenna hasn't been tuned yet, but that should be taken care of soon. I listened to it on the way to work. I was able to listen to a guy talking for a few miles. Seems promising, but there is still some grounding work to be done. Picked up just a little engine noise when accelerating hard. There is a ground strap going from the antenna mount to the frame. However, the truck is 27 years old, so I'm sure all of the grounding needs to be checked. I found a good deal on some more straps, so some bonding work will be in order.
On a side note, I was told that there is going to be a local cb radio club starting up. I really hope so. Should be a good opportunity to do some talking on the weekends.
