New RCI 2950CD
So now I'm curious DO factory fresh 2950cd come w echip inside but not hooked up?
Ive heard they are supposed to be in there and you the consumer plug it in but shady shops are removing them and charging for them.
Is any of this true? Been gone for years so no idea what's happening on the scene now...

Re: New RCI 2950CD mods needed and help with Galaxy 2517
Yes the e-chip is in the box and no it's not installed if the box has not been opened. Most shops charge to open the radio and plug it in.Lonestarbandit wrote: Mar 02 2021, 17:06 So now I'm curious DO factory fresh 2950cd come w echip inside but not hooked up?

NP, and with that being said I know of 2 "YouTube" shops/stores that automatically open the box, install the chip, placed their "tamper stickers" on the case, and give you no recourse but to pay their mod fees. A local here has gotten a couple radios from one and was always charged. The funny part is they charged a fee to mod an Anytone radio, those radios are menu driven, no screwdriver required.

Right that's what I was referring to, forced fees for 2 min work.
