CB Radio Talk

I didn't want to permanently mount a CB in my nissan titan so I came up with this.
Its a electronics holder that uses your cup holder and a cigarette lighter adapter that the wires from the CB just attach to in seconds. Its right on my center console so its inches from my right hand and the whole thing is removable in 30 seconds. I found the holder and power adapter on amazon. All I had to do was drill out one of the holes on the holder a lil bit and get a M5-.08 x 10 mm bolt. Would be ideal for hunting season when you just need a CB for a couple months. Not sure if this will be ideal for a LARGE radio, maybe.

Those cup holder mount work well for the vehicles that have limited room for a radio. I would use the mounting bracket on heavier radios as a bolt in one side may flex the circuit board. Use Anderson Powerpoles for the leads and it would be a 1 2 3 removal, out of sight, out of mind thief protection.

Uniden 520...good little radios...I used one before I bought my President McKinley, mainly for it's size...But the thing also had good ears which was a surprise seeing how they are entry-level radios and not very expencive.

I have owned several very compact Uniden CB's. They got the job done. Just donated three of those great little CB's.

My new President McKinley is not that compact however it has several features the little Uniden's did not including SSB, WX and much more. Great display for these aging eyes.

My McKinley CB is in my ham shack and in good company with my Yaesu dual band, HF and HT amateur radios. Soon to be added is a GMRS radio. Still reviewing GMRS spec's and manufacturers. I really enjoy all these radios with each having very different experiences and uses.

I use a four foot Firestik NG antenna off the patio for the McKinley sharing space with the dual band and HF ham radio antennas and soon to be added GMRS base antenna. The Firestik SWR is in the 1.2 -1.4 range across all CB channels.

My better half is very understanding!!
