Return visit

I have returned after some time via my mobile, but I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription. Why? Because right now, I feel like I could have a panic attack at any time. The constant flashing, pulsating alerts. The constant pop ups and moving things, the constant bombardment to donate. All this stuff getting in the way of my navigation, it's extremely frustrating and invasive. It's like the website is on speed! Could you possibly tone it down a little? I come here for the hobby and community, not to irrationally raise my anxiety levels.

Welcome back.

As far as all the things that could be bothering you, most can be adjusted in your preferences, just click on your handle in the top right corner to see them. If you feel this is not for you then you can delete your membership there as well. If you do we will be sorry to see you go.

I will take a look. By the way, it took me several minutes to read and respond to your reply because several donate popups hijacked the screen.

I’m sorry about the donation pop up, but donations are what keep this forum running compared to others that either a “rich kid” owning the site and can kick whoever they want off, (you what I’m talking about), or it will go by the wayside like so many others on the internet have the past couple years. Many of those members are joining here and I haven’t heard any complaints from them.
This forum is free to use as long as you go by the forum rules. But think of it like an app on your phone, the free apps all have ads that pop up.

@arcone,
You can not turn off donation notifications in profile settings, but if you donate $10 or more you will not get the donation notifications being a member of the donor group. You also will see less ads being a member of the donor group and have more privileges.

Sometimes change is for the better...but not always... ;)

Thanks. I have set my preferences as best I can. However, on looking at your reply, I received four pop ups to donate within a minute. Three of which totally blanked out the screen. I finally found your post, and in replying, got an AD and another pop up to donate. It's just ridiculous and bloody annoying quite frankly.

Donors who donate do not get the popups.

I appreciate your contribution

Yes well now we're getting somewhere. I assumed so from the beginning, and this is the problem I have (apart from difficulty posting this). I mean, they may as well blackmail me.

Yea, it's not terrible via computer, but via smartphone.... impossible to even use this site. I don't even bother coming here via mobile anymore (and I donated). I guess that is a choice the site owner decided to make.

If you think that way @arcone ...

@MN785
You shouldn't see the donate pop-ups since your in donor group unless you're not logged in

But that's the problem right there, Bozo. It's not like this forum is bursting at the seams with activity, let alone knowledgeable activity. Many people contribute to these types of forums with their knowledge, and it is their knowledge that draws in people who are willing to donate monetarily. If people who are unfamiliar with this forum cannot even navigate it without being harassed for money, how do you expect them to donate (let alone contribute intellectually)? You don't see this on the more successful forums, so take take notes! As a donor, you can add me to ↓↓↓that↓↓↓ delete list, because as things stand, I won't be donating again, especially with your attitude towards people.

Wow I just came across this thread. Hasn't anybody been paying attention? Doners are down ,sponsors are down. Nothing is free people. Only the strong survive. We would be remiss if we missed an opportunity to reach out for support. Sorry about offending or freaking out some people.If this forum is to continue to be one of the best forums out there. We have to explore all opportunities has they come and go.

There is nothing wrong with reaching out for support, but when newcomers can't even navigate the forum from a mobile device, how can you expect people to be interested? I donated, I have no issue with asking for donations, just don't let it be so intrusive that it chases people off...

And judging by the number of advertisements, it looks like you've got it well and truly covered.

@arcone I only wish tht ads cover it. You don't see the ads from Google if your a donor.
