Galaxy 66v receive help
Receive is so distorted and garbled has so much static in it like does when turned on fm but while on am and can’t get it out any ideas

at that point its best to take it to a tech.
you could spend hours trying to trouble shoot it, a tech will spot it and if its a cheap/easy fix you will have it back in minutes
p.s. some radio techs will do it for nothing if you know one, but, either way, pay him well because we have to support them and keep them in business. they are getting rare,

If you are trying to hear a AM station in FM mode, it will sound garbled and distorted, not a lot of FM action on the CB band and I haven’t heard much on the upper part of 10 m ham either.
AM is always going to have static, Mother Nature and man made noises are the pits, not a lot can be done to eliminate them. You can remove some noise by tuning the antenna to the best possible SWR, tuneup your engine, fixing a noisy alternator, make chokes for things like the wiper motor, heated/ac fan motor, add shielding by grounding hood, doors, trunk lid. These are all suggestions.

Thanks mdyoungblood it’s like the am receive is has got the same static as it does in fm but is on am not the normal static it’s even drowning the the high signals out as well making those garbled while it’s on am not trying to listen to fm on am sorry for mis understanding on that
