Uniden Bearcat 880 help

I'm new to fixing radios. I've talked on them for years, but I recently started trying to learn to work on my own radios. I have a Bearcat 880 and I'm going to run an rm italy 203p on it but i cant get the dead key below 4 watts. How do I adjust the dead key without turning down the total power

i think the bearcats 880 and 980 series radios are non-adjustable, they work good outa the box, but dont get them hot.
