When I spoke to RA about that he had said, if I remember correctly, that the 2995 was not really meant for a base amp .If I was going to run a base amp I would of picked a different base radio . You should call him and ask!!

You can use a base amp with a 2995 but it would have to be a big amp. Something that would need a 100 watts drive to work. A Dentron MLA 2500 would work fine with one.

First I would get a good meter and see what the radio is doing for a low dead key. "My" 2995 is setup at 8 watts on low dead key which will hurt alot of the low drive amps. If yours is "stock" and running about 2 watts on low I think you can use just about any amp you want. If you want to use a "high"(4,6 pill etc.) drive amp adjust your power output according to the manufactures recommendations.
Of course I am a "new duck" and still learning but, I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night!!!

My past post here seems to have been lost, no biggie.

Go with a big tube amp. More power better sound. Something with at least two 500 Z's that will want a 100 watts of drive to work well or maybe something with two CX 800's. Anyone of these will work great with that radio and you should see well over 2000 watts of CLEAN power (no problems with the neighbors ) so you don't have to wait till they go to sleep to use it.

On a DX 2995, you shouldn't have to use an amp.

If you did it would have to be really big, I mean really really big.

yah, i like my ra swp 2995dx just the way it is. i think ill forget the amp. i was talking to a guy 75 miles away (no skip) with a imax 2000 and the guy said it sounded great. in fact in sounded to great-i had the neighbors pounding on my door telling me i was coming over anything with wires in it. so i ordered a 450 watt swp-super receive connex 4300-300 from ra to put in my mobile. :D i hear all these guys doing the stomp thing and i dont know what it is but the audio sounds compressed or something while running those comp amps. heck maybe it sounds better 50 miles away.

What kind of power are you looking for.

Just get a RCI 2970 the a 2 transistor comp amp and then a 4 transistor comp amp, hello 1500 watts off you Cowtown.
